Told with Aloha.
About
The People of Hilo
The People of Hilo is a passion project born from the heart of Hawai‘i. We are a cinematic storytelling series that honors the people, places, and cultural pillars that make Hilo extraordinary. From legendary kumu hula to unsung everyday heroes, we bring their moʻolelo (stories) to life with authenticity, emotion, and purpose.
At its core, The People of Hilo is more than just a documentary project — it’s a movement. A movement to preserve culture. To amplify real voices. And to show the world the soul of our island community — where aloha lives in every story.
Our mission is simple yet powerful:
We do this by producing short films, reels, and behind-the-scenes content that reflect not only the visual beauty of Hilo, but its spiritual depth, resilience, and community pride.
Through cinematic visuals, authentic voices, and deep community relationships, we strive to build a platform that does more than entertain — it uplifts, educates, and inspires.

Your support makes it possible to tell stories rooted in culture, carried by real voices, and crafted with care.
